First State Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all non interest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules."

First State Bank's negotiable order of withdrawal (Now) account does not qualify as a non interest-bearing account under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program and is not eligible for the guarantee. The interest rate paid on the Now Account exceeds the maximum allowed rate of 0.25%. Now Accounts are still covered up to $250,000.00 under the FDIC's general deposit insurance.
